Amanda Serrano
Visual Artist
Sculpture | Installation | Mixed Media

Hemispheres (detail), 2010, mixed media, dimensions variable

As an environmentally conscious visual artist my studio practice is primarily in sculpture, installation, and mixed media.  I re-envision everyday items that we commonly throw away and [re]use them in my work, taking the opportunity to reinvent, redesign, and repurpose that which already surrounds us.  Magazines, books, bottles, sea glass become my medium; bringing to mind renewal, the balance between nature and refuse, the reminder that we are connected to all things in the universe, to live in harmony with our environment, think creatively, safeguard and conserve our earth.
